People, Roles & Performance

Is it a skill gap, or a fit problem?

A capable person in the wrong role can look exactly like an underperformer. This module exists to tell the two apart before anyone commits to the wrong fix.

What NIVENTO Works On

More training doesn't fix a fit problem, and a role change doesn't fix a skill gap. Sending someone through the wrong intervention wastes their time and the organization's.

Assess the Person Assess the Role Compare Fit Recommend a Path Support the Move

The Problem

A strong performer moves into a leadership role and struggles, not because they lack ability, but because the new role rewards a completely different set of strengths than the one they were promoted out of. From the outside, it looks like underperformance. From the inside, it's often a mismatch nobody diagnosed.

Why It Matters

Misdiagnosing a fit issue as a skill issue wastes a training budget and, worse, damages someone's confidence for a problem that was never really about their capability. Getting the diagnosis right protects both the person and the organization's time.

What Comes Out of It

A clear, evidence-based answer on whether the gap is skill, fit, or something structural, and a specific recommendation rather than a generic one, whether that's targeted development, a role adjustment, or a different kind of support entirely.

Who This Is For

HR and people leaders looking at a specific individual or role where performance hasn't matched expectations, and want a considered answer before acting.

Typical Format

A confidential, structured assessment involving conversations with the individual and their manager, usually completed within one to two weeks, followed by a direct recommendation.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What if we are not sure training is the right answer?

That is where Nivento starts. We look at the situation first and may recommend training, role clarity, communication work, leadership development, process changes, advisory support or a combination.

Can an intervention be adapted to our context?

Yes. The pathway provides a starting structure, while the final intervention can be shaped around your people, work environment, priorities and constraints.

Can we start with an assessment?

Yes. Selected Nivento assessments can help structure reflection before a conversation. They are developmental tools, not clinical or diagnostic tests.

Do you work only with large organizations?

No. The approach can be shaped for the scale and context of the organization.
